Quick Thoughts On Steph Curry’s Ankle

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

After hearing so many fuckboi gasbags on TV/radio today pontificate about whether or not Steph Curry should play tonight, I just had to provide my little hot take.

Background Info: Stephen Curry  sprained an ankle during Game 1 of the Warriors-Rockets first round playoff series. Curry was notorious for having weak-ass spaghetti ankles for the first three years of his NBA career. Steph’s chronic ankle injuries were so severe that Golden State was able to lock the Splash Brother up for measly 4-year/$44 StephCurryAnklesMillion contract. (the main reason why the Dubs are able to afford such a stacked roster). Since undergoing preventative ankle surgeries to limit potential future injuries, and intense physical therapy, Curry has managed to stay pretty much 100% healthy for 2+ years now. Steph has now been listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets. And as a result, lots of fuckbois gave their hot takes about how Steph should play because it’s the playoffs.

Here’s some quick thoughts on why it’s obvious that the Warriors (and that douchebag Lacob) should sit Steph as a precautionary measure, for multiple games.

  1. Anyone that’s had chronic injuries to a specific body part has a higher risk of experiencing future injuries to that same area. Anyone that pushes themselves physically with an existing injury has the chance of increasing the severity of that injury (Grant Hill, anybody?). Grant Hill Slam Magazine.jpg
  2. It would be disastrous for the Dubs if Steph Curry suffered a long(erish)-term injury that could keep him out for an entire series. As dynamic as the Dubs have been, the Warriors have a negative plus/minus with Steph Curry on the bench. Curry opens up everything for that team offensively; his absence makes the Warriors offense much less dynamic and much more predictable. The smart move is to allow Curry to rest for at least 1 game, if not 2. Golden State is up 1-0 and has some room to breath with home-advantage. Oh yeah, there’s that other thing…
  3. THE ROCKETS SUCK.
  4. THE ROCKETS HATE EACH OTHER.
  5. THE ROCKETS CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THE SEASON IS OVER SO THEY CAN PEACE THE FUCK OUT AND START ENJOYING THEIR OFFSEASON

Considering the Houston Rockets suck balls, the Warriors better be willing to sacrifice Steph for a game or two and eliminate the potential for Steph to worsen his injury and miss significant time. The Dubs aren’t all they’re cracked up to be without Steph on the floor, and they have a nice little cushion with a 1-0 lead and home-court advantage.
