No matter how hard they tried. No matter how difficult and uncompromising they were. No matter how many sneaky and jerk-off tactics were used. The Hillary Clinton Campaign was unable to avoid a DNC debate against Bernie Sanders in New York prior to the NY Primary on April 19th. As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, that debate in New York is going down tonight in Brooklyn tonight (9pm on CNN).
The Clinton Campaign tried their best to avoid a debate against The Brooklyn Brawler in New York after Bernie challenged Hillary to a debate at the end of March.
On March 27th, Bernie had this to say (via Daily Caller):
“I would hope very much that as we go into New York state, Secretary Clinton’s home state, that we will have a debate — New York City or upstate, wherever — on the important issues facing New York and, in fact, the country.”
Bernie’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, jumped on Sanders’ sentiments with these follow up comments (that are straight fire):
“Your campaign has consistently chosen to deny the people of New York the opportunity to see Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton debate in the Empire State.”
“Can you please explain why New York should not host the April debate? Is the Secretary concerned about debating before the people who twice elected her to the U.S. Senate? Perhaps there is some tactical advantage you are seeking by avoiding a debate in New York but I would remind you that Sen. Sanders agreed to debate the secretary in New Hampshire when he was well ahead in the polls.”
Once Bernie announced his official challenge to Hillary, the Clinton Campaign tried to front on everyone as if they were pumped to participate in another good ole’ fashion #DemDebate. Through the media, Hillary fronted as though she would be a willing participant of a NY debate prior to April 19th. However according to the Sanders Campaign, that’s not the case (via Fox):
“Sanders campaign countered by saying the candidate is available to debate April 10, 11, 12 or 13.”
“Sanders campaign spokesman Michael Briggs also said the Clinton campaign “disingenuously” announced that it had agreed to a debate on a day when it knew Sanders already had locked in park permits for a major rally in New York City.”
“Let’s stop the silly political games,” Briggs said. “Let’s get on with debating the candidates’ stands on serious issues affecting New York and the United States.”
Clinton Campaign Strategist, Joel Beneson, had this horseshit explanation for why The Hilldabeast has been reluctant to agree to another presidential debate (via Huffington Post):
“CNN’s Kate Bolduan then inquired why the campaign would not agree to debate in New York despite agreeing in January to more debates. Benenson responded, “Because we agreed to debates up to a certain point. We’re now out campaigning in these states.””
As you can see, the Clinton Campaign is full of shit. Their explanation for avoiding debates against Sanders is because they are no longer focused on New York. Hmmm, that’s a bit ironic considering the primary wasn’t for another 20 days from when Beneson made this comment. But wait, there’s more nonsense that flowed from Beneson’s mouth defending Clinton:
“”The debates have been very good, but Sen. Sanders doesn’t get to decide when we debate, particularly when he’s running a very negative campaign against us. Let’s see if he goes back to the kind of tone he said he was going to set early on. If he does that, then we’ll talk about debates,” Benenson said.”
Holy fucking shit. The Clinton Campaign basically admitted that Bernie Sanders has actively participated in the DNC’s plan to straight up give the Democratic Presidential Nomination to Hillary, no if, ands ,or buts, about it. As we’ve covered a bunch of times already, Bernie has been a “good boy” for the DNC by not attacking Hillary. The second the Sanders Campaign went on the offesnive toward Hillary, her campaign absolutely punks the fuck out.
Basically: Hillary Clinton’s campaign strategist openly admitted that Hillary is reluctant to participate in a debate because the debate is not as heavily rigged in her favor as previous debates. Is there really much more to say?
Hillary Clinton is the Democratic presidential front-runner, and has been since she announced her candidacy over one year ago. Hillary Clinton has already been declared by political strategists and media fuckbois alike as the default nomination for the DNC. Hillary Clinton has multiple Super PACs and Obama Campaign employees working for her day and night dredging up support. So, why would The Hilldabeast be so steadfast about avoiding a square-off against Bernie Sanders before the New York Presidential Primary that holds 247-dellies for the Democrats?
Because Bernie Sanders has won 8 of the last 9 state primaries. Because Bernie Sanders has gone from a complete long shot a year ago (70% behind Clinton) to a real contender today. Because Sanders has picked up a legitimate amount of momentum heading into the New York primary.
Hillary Clinton is campaigning in NY as if she is a New Yorker. In reality, Clinton is from Arkansas and spent 8 years of her life living in upstate New York. Her opponent, Bernie Sanders, was born in Brooklyn and is a true New Yorker, through and through. Between Bernie Sanders’ growing momentum, and political realities that the Clinton Campaign is hoping to hide from voters, it’s no wonder why Hillary tried her best to avoid a NY debate with Bernie.
And you know it boy.
