Today’s reminder that Everyone’s Full of Shit was provided by Joe Biden. As the NYT tweeted tonight:
Am I imagining things… or is the New York Times publishing an article that may hurt Obama’s ability to appoint the next Supreme Court Justice? I don’t see any pigs flying, and the sky is blue…. but who knows. Maybe this is just the first sign of things to come….
- Justice Scalia suddenly died earlier this month
- The President has the executive power to appoint Supreme Court Justices
- Congress has the constitutional right to support/oppose the President’s appointment
- The Republicans already publicly stated that they will oppose Obama’s selection until the next POTUS is elected (we will discuss why this is very dumb later)
From the NYT article:
“As a senator more than two decades ago, Vice PresidentJoseph R. Biden Jr. argued that President George Bush should delay filling a Supreme Court vacancy, should one arise, until the presidential election was over, and that it was “essential” that the Senate refuse to confirm a nominee to the court until then.
Mr. Biden’s words, though uttered long ago, are a direct contradiction to President Obama’s position in the battle over naming a successor to Justice Antonin Scalia.”
As we mentioned last week, Chuck Schumer tried to pull the same shit back in 2008 (Chuck is also a high-profile Democrat). FUHHGEDDABOUDIT.
EVERY POLITICIAN IS FULL OF SHIT AND WILL TAKE ANY SIDE OR P.O.V. THAT ADVANCES THEIR OBJECTIVES OR CAREERS.
